Additional Services for Co-Parents
Every family is different and planning your next steps is only the beginning. That’s why I offer additional services to help you keep things clear, respectful and child focused as life moves forward.
These services are delivered with the same heart-led approach I bring to all my work: supportive, down-to-earth and focused on what works best for your unique family.
Before Mediation
Practical preparation for effective mediation
Pre-Mediation Coaching
Practical preparation for effective mediation
Mediation is a crucial step in your family resolution journey. There’s a lot at stake and, understandably, it can feel daunting. You might be worried about emotions running high, how to communicate with your ex or whether you’ll reach an agreement.
Pre-mediation coaching helps you prepare so you can get the most out of the process. It’s not about emotional hype or “stepping into your power”; it’s grounded, practical guidance to help you approach mediation with a clear head and a plan to move forward.
This is your space to reset, refocus and prepare – so when you walk into mediation, you feel calm, clear and in control.
How pre-mediation coaching helps
Pre-mediation coaching is designed to give you every possible advantage going in – emotionally, practically and strategically – so you can show up as your best self and give mediation the best chance of success.
Pre-mediation coaching equips you with:
Clarity – know what you want, why it matters and how to express it calmly during mediation
Confidence – feel grounded and ready to engage productively
Calm – manage emotions and stay composed under pressure
Practical tools – communicate clearly and avoid old conflict patterns
Perspective – separate the person from the problem and pick your battles
Forward focus – visualise the life you want post-mediation and take the first steps toward it
Who pre-mediation coaching is for
Pre-mediation coaching provides accessible support for anyone who wants to feel prepared, confident and capable during mediation. Coaching is available to everyone – not just Families in Practice clients.
You might be:
Booked for mediation through a government organisation and want extra support to make it count
Working with another mediator but want independent, personalised coaching beforehand
Considering mediation with me and would like to prepare through coaching first. If only you want to do coaching, your ex will need to sign a waiver confirming they’re comfortable proceeding with mediation with me on that basis. Or, I can coach you both separately to ensure there’s no conflict of interest
How pre-mediation coaching works
A three-session program to help you prepare with confidence
Body: Delivered online via Zoom for flexibility (including after-hours options), this three-session package gives you the tools, insights and strategies to manage the mediation process – and yourself – effectively.
Session 1 – Foundation & Focus
Before our first session, you’ll complete a detailed form about your situation. We’ll go through it together, identify what’s important, and map out your goals for mediation and beyond. You’ll leave with personalised feedback and practical homework, such as:
How to handle communication if your ex is difficult or reactive
How to prepare if you’re worried they won’t follow an agreement
Ways to stay calm and focused when emotions rise
A plan to seek external support if needed – like booking a psychologist appointment or doing an online course
Session 2 – Strategy & Skills
We’ll check in on your progress, explore what’s working and build on your strategies. This is where we focus on:
Managing triggers and reactive behaviour
Learning how to stop unhelpful cycles
Removing pre-conceived ideas about how the mediation process will go
Strengthening your communication and confidence
Identifying additional supports if needed – like a financial planner or accountant
We’ll also start shaping your post-mediation goals: who you want to be, what you want life to look like afterwards, and how to rebuild your identity beyond being an ex-partner.
Session 3 – Preparation & Practice
In this final session, we’ll walk through the mediation process itself, including:
What your mediator should be doing
What’s expected of you
How to anticipate your ex’s behaviour and plan your responses
We’ll role play scenarios, refine your approach and make sure you feel fully prepared.
Let’s get the most out of mediation

Practical Support For
Life After Mediation
Co-Parenting Calendar
A practical tool for stress-free scheduling
Once you’ve reached an agreement in relation to your kids – whether through mediation, court or your own discussions – the next step is making those arrangements easy to follow. You don’t need more advice – you just need a co-parenting calendar that puts what you’ve already decided into practice.
Here’s how it works:
You send me your agreed plan or court orders
I create a simple, colour-coded co-parenting calendar in a format that works for you showing who’s responsible for what, on which days
You and your ex can easily update the calendar moving forward as things change
How a co-parenting calendar helps
A co-parenting calendar takes the guesswork out of who’s doing school pick up and Saturday sport. It makes life simpler, keeps both parents accountable, enables changes to be made mindful of other arrangements, and helps avoid unnecessary misunderstandings and arguments. Most importantly, it gives your children stability – they know there’s a plan and everyone is on the same page.
Benefits at a glance
Clarity – everything recorded in one place
Accountability – keeps both parents on track
Stability – children feel more secure with a consistent plan
Make co-parenting a little simpler
You’ve already made the decisions. Now let’s turn them into a clear, practical calendar that everyone can follow, helping reduce confusion, avoid unnecessary misunderstandings and bring more consistency to family life.
Guided New Partner Meeting
A safe and supportive introduction
When your ex has a new partner who will be spending time with your children, it’s only natural you want to know who they are. I provide a safe, relaxed space for that first meeting.
Skip the stiff handshakes and awkward small talk. Instead, think of it as a coffee catch-up: casual, respectful and guided by me to keep the vibe positive and productive.
In a guided 2-hour session, you’ll have the chance to:
Introduce yourselves in a supported environment
Talk about your children in a positive way – including their likes, dislikes, hobbies and goals
Ask questions and talk about the role each person has in your children’s lives
Feel reassured about your children’s environment and confident in your shared co-parenting approach
Shape a supportive blended family dynamic that works for all the children involved (yours and your ex’s new partner’s – if they have them)
How a guided new partner meeting helps
This meeting is all about building trust and fostering a family culture where everyone feels seen and valued. For you, it means peace of mind and a stronger co-parenting relationship. For your children, it means more consistency across households and the sense of safety that comes from seeing the adults that care for them working together with respect.
Benefits at a glance
Peace of mind – know who your children are spending time with
Respectful co-parenting – set the tone for positive relationships for both parents
Stability for children – consistency and trust between both homes
Make the first meeting a positive one
A little support can make an unfamiliar situation feel much easier.
Let’s create a comfortable space for open conversation, mutual respect and a positive way forward.
